Everyone has heard the phrase, “let them vent, it’s good to get it all out in the open.” According to Dr. Brad J. Bush, “Venting anger is like using gasoline to put out a fire. It just feeds the flame. Venting keeps arousal levels high and keeps aggressive thoughts and angry feelings alive.” And the fact is that it creates emotional stress for both the person telling their “story” and the person listening to it.
When someone’s going through the divorce process, they are often overwhelmed by the emotional stress involved with their relationship ending. Very often they will tend to get stuck on telling the “story” of their divorce because their entire focus is on what led to this point, how and why it happened, and who is to blame. This not only takes an emotional toll on both the divorce client and whoever is listening, it keeps them from moving forward, and concentrating on the task at hand, which is to navigate through the business of the divorce process.
As a divorce coach, it’s up to you to interrupt the story while still honoring and validating the person telling it.
But how?
The Certified Divorce Coach® training program teaches you to use a Toolbox of Techniques and Communication Structures, to help people move through the divorce process with more ease, confidence, and effectiveness.
At CDC Certified Divorce Coach®, we’ve found that our divorce coaches come to us from a variety of fields – family law attorney, therapist, healthcare worker, family mediator, divorce financial professional, stay-at-home mom, coach, and so many more. They’re either looking for something to add to their already existing offerings or a new start in a field in which they invariably have some personal experience.
What do they have in common? They are all passionate about helping people and making a difference in their lives by helping them get through one of the most traumatic events a person can go through.
The CDC Certified Divorce Coach® program not only equips you with the skills and knowledge to be an exceptional divorce coach but also provides essential business building blocks. These tools enable you to attract and serve your ideal clients professionally, establishing a strong foundation from your very first day as a CDC Certified Divorce Coach®.
Throughout the CDC Certified Divorce Coach® Training program, you become part of a supportive community.
