CDC Certified Divorce Coach® Johanne Shoffstall, who is also a family attorney, shares a video in which she discusses how a divorce coach should rate their success on how much dignity their clients have been able to maintain throughout the process.
Anyone who has been through a divorce can attest to how challenging the whole process can be and how quickly it can turn adversarial. Many clients mistakenly believe that the legal process is prepared to mete out emotional justice. That is not what the legal process is designed to do. So when clients come to a divorce coach, as described by Johanne Shoffstallin in this brief video, the client can see the coach as someone who is rescuing them from a very traumatic event which can become a very harrowing experience without the support of a highly trained divorce coach.
A divorce coach is a sounding board, but that’s not all. A CDC Certified Divorce Coach® is trained to guide their clients into breaking down into manageable pieces something that is by its very nature overwhelming, allowing the client to make decisions that are rational as opposed to emotional.
As a divorce attorney, Johanne has litigated hundreds of cases using a variety of modalities but there wasn’t anything – until she got into the CDC® program, that met her desire to truly help spouses that are going through the awful divorce process.
CDC Certified Divorce Coaches® know and understand first-hand the impact that divorce can have on individuals and families. They bring compassion and confidence into their coaching and enable their clients to focus on the business part of divorce rather than become overwhelmed at the emotional aspect of the process.
