Friday, July 17 12 noon – 1 pm ET Understanding the GET in Jewish divorce and the Impact it has on the Divorce Process
It is very common for the GET, which is the Jewish divorce document, to be included in the secular civil divorce settlement agreement. The GET provides the husband with an EXTREMELY powerful negotiating advantage and tool in his favor, where he can become the sole decision-maker in the divorce process, AND can literally take a “my way or the highway” approach in his favor. These instances can leave the wife virtually powerless in the process.
In this session you will understand:
- What the GET is and some of the variables and issues associated with it for each denomination, so that you as a divorce coach can understand how it fits into the divorce story.
- How the GET fits into the divorce coaching process.
- Strategies for how one could coach around this issue depending on which spouse you are coaching.
And you will get additional resources to serve your Jewish divorce clients.
Aaron Kaplan is an ordained Cantor and a CDC Certified Divorce Coach® and comes with the perspective of the clergy/religious side and the coaching side.

Coaching the Conflict Pivot: Three Steps to Help Free Clients from Conflict with Tammy Lenski
author of the recently released book The Conflict Pivot.
A pivot is a change of direction and, therefore, focus. When people stuck in states of conflict and tension focus attention in ways that get them stuck and cause the conflict to gnaw at them, freedom from a conflict means pivoting in three key ways. This teleseminar, based on a framework developed and used with coaching clients over the past decade, will introduce coaches to the framework, its uses, and ways to use the process with their own clients. The teleseminar will answer these questions:
- What is the Conflict Pivot Framework and how is it used?
- With whom and how has it been used successfully?
- What kinds of coaching clients can most benefit from the framework?
- How can a coach learn and get experience using the framework?
Dr. Tammy Lenski helps leaders, managers, mediators, and coaches bring their “A game” to conflict resolution. A mediator, coach, conflict resolution professor and author, Tammy has clients worldwide through her New Hampshire-based firm since 1997. Her second book, The Conflict Pivot, came out in 2014 and Tammy writes regularly about conflict resolution at lenski.com
